ATM has four required components for service to be delivered:
- ATM enabled Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) located at each business location.
- Physical "port" connection for each site into MP Telecom’s ATM network.
- A local loop connection between the ATM enabled CPE and MP Telecom’s nearest Point of Presence (POP).
- Virtual connections between end points need to be established. Each virtual connection is assigned Quality of Service (QOS) parameters.

Customer Premise Equipment Options
- Customer provided
- CPE can be purchased through MP Telecom
- CPE can be leased through MP Telecom

Virtual Connection Options
- Bandwith in 64kb increments for T1 ports and 1Mb increments for DS-3 ports and higher
- Four class of service options:
- Constant Bit Rate (CBR) - Used for circuit emulation, voice and video traffic or data traffic requiring a bounded delay.
- Variable Bit Rate-Real Time (VBR-rt) - Used for applications that are bursty and are somewhat tolerant to delay such as packet voice and video.
- Variable Bit Rate-Non Real Time (VBR-nrt) - Used for applications with non-real-time bursty traffic requiring guaranteed minimum throughput and low cell loss. A good example of this is LAN and Internet traffic.
- Unspecified Bit Rate (UBR) - Used for applications with traffic that is tolerant of cell loss and delay variation. No bandwidth guarantees, but attempts to fill bandwidth gaps with bursty data. Well suited for LAN protocols, such as LAN emulation.

Optional Services:
- Managed CPE - With CPE managed services, MP Telecom will monitor your CPE equipment for faults and performance. MP Telecom will respond to fault notifications and dispatch according to the equipment service contract in place. MP Telecom will also provide monthly reports and assessment of your capacity needs.
- ATM/Frame Relay Internetworking - MP Telecom can tie your ATM and Frame Relay network together into one network.
- Internet Access - With a connection into MP Telecom’s ATM network, Internet access can be delivered over the same connection.
